A just pointed out sometimes circumstances don’t let you take the stand you wanted. (BTW, were you waiting for me to post that? 
)
My take on that is.. Then, accept it and let it go. Don’t sit around and dream how close you were to your happy ending. Or try to hold on to something you cannot give your 100% in first place.
Relationships takes hard work. It requires your complete dedication and commitment. There’s no half way. If you think you can manage it half heartedly and your loved one is fine with that. Well, kudos to you. But in reality, you are just lying to yourself.
Moral here is Be a Man or Woman (whatever gets you off 
)
PS: I know how hard it is to stand up to family and how easy it is to give in to pressure. But think of your life 5 yrs from now, 10 yrs from now. If you feel it would be incomplete without this person, you know what to do.
Best of luck, honey…. We all are with you no matter what.
PPS: Same goes for practicalities. And trying to act Sane.

Problem is not that people don’t love, problem is they don’t love enough to stand up for that love. Be it standing up to a guy in bar to stop harassing your girl, Be it telling an obnoxious but good friend to stop criticizing your guy, Be it standing up to your family for your love, Be it taking a life-changing hard decision and Most importantly Standing up to your loved one for that love.
If you can do so.. There’s nothing to stop that Happy Ending to come your way.
