Create your own Twitter Background..

Twitter lets you upload your own background. Only caveat is it needs to be less 800kb. One option is, of course, upload your own image. The other is why not spice your image up.
Before we start, here’s the disclaimer – I’m affiliated to the product used here.
So, the other day while I was testing, I decided it was high time to have my own personalized twitter background. Now, do remember I like things loud and colorful. My fav era is 60s and 70s. So I wanted a background which is all of these. My laptop just got formatted, so it was software-less. No Photoshop. No Lightroom. So, I decided to experiment with new photoshop.com’s Editor. (even though I have an account with them, you really don’t need to log in or register for this). Here’s how I did it.

1. First thing first. You need an image. I chose my shoes image. I like traveling and nothing says traveling like shoes. Plus, they are so 70s and I’m in love with them.
2. Launch www.photoshop.com in your browser. Go to Online Tools->Photoshop Express Editor.
3. Click on ‘Upload Photo’. Choose your image from the browse window and click on open. You’ll see Editor with your image.
4. Now, you need to decide on what image size you want. Most screens are 1024X768 and above. I decided to keep it 1400X900.
In Editor, Click on Resize option (Left Pane). Click on Custom in buttons below image. Provide width as 1400. It’ll automatically calculate Height based on your image’s original size.
5. We have the perfect size now. Now the fancy stuff. Click on Decorate in top of left pane. (It’s right next to Edit)
6. Click on Frames to get options. Select any one you like and click on Add. Now your image has a fancy border. Click on Expressions to select any one that you like. Same for other items or text. Just select and add to image.
7. Use your mouse to move the objects wherever you would like to see them on your background. Transparency options let you decide if you want these objects to be opaque or bit transparent.
8. Once you are happy with your background. Just click Done.
9. Choose Maximum size from the window and click on Save. In next window, provide the name and location and You are Done.

Just testing out new feature of posting via e-mails..
This is going to heaven sent esp. for my tendencies of writing down all my thoughts on email and pasting them later to blog..
It’s like they heard me cursing when my copy-paste to blog went wrong..

Edit: So, its not fully there yet. My signature was posted as well.. which means I would have to manually remove them each time.. Anywayz I can live with that

Uninstalling/Downgrading Flash Player

As testers, we often need to test web apps with different versions of flash player.. And whoever has ever tried to do that, never got it right in first attempt.. Talk about Usability

Now here’s the catch, if you were using latest Flash Player 10 ActiveX control (basically FP 10 on IE), you won’t be able to install previous 10 version even after using this uninstaller.. Reason being, there are lot many apps using flash files – browsers, IMs.. So it never gets uninstalled properly. Solution is quite simple.
1. Copy Flash uninstaller to your hard drive
2. Open Command Prompt
3. Navigate to the location where you have this uninstaller
4. Type uninstall_flash_player.exe /clean
5. Press Enter
6. Flash player uninstaller will launch. Simply continue.
7. Do click on details once uninstall is complete.
8. If it says Delete on Boot. Restart your system.

That’s it.. your system is free for any other versions to be installed

Was a pain.. Took me whole lotta time. But finally I’m on XP.. So here are the steps..

1. Get Windows XP
2. Backup your Data
3. Create Recovery DVDs (if anything goes wrong, you can always go back to default factory conditions
4. Find SATA Drivers for your HD and create a bootable CD with both drivers and XP.
For Sata Drivers – Download
To create Bootable XP with Drivers using Nlite

5. Boot with this newly created XP cd and follow instructions.
6. Once XP is installed, You need XP drivers.

7. Biggest Problem with my laptop was finding nVidia Driver. Apparantly nVidia GeForce 8400 is not supported on XP.. However do not lose heart and thank Google for search results and of course Devs who worked on it.
Go here. Find the driver compatible with your Laptop and install it..
I still have issues with sleep. I think it’s because of nVidia driver.. But overall my laptop works brilliantly.

No Probs with wireless or Bluetooth or Sound.. I’m yet to test TV Tuner.. will update when I do..
